Hair

Set in an East Village park in 1967, the American Tribal Love-Rock Musical HAIR tells the story of the "tribe", a group of politically active hippies living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War.

Hair explores many of the themes of the counterculture movement of the 1960, addressing topics such as homophobia, xenophobia, racism, nudity, sexual freedom, and drug use. [Long] hair was the hippies' flag – their symbol of the rejection of discrimination and restrictive gender roles, and the equality between men and women. This production looks at problems that unfortunately have not been resolved since the 60’s.

Our first production in 2020 was challenging because of the corona restriction, but it forced us to think out of the box, and find alternative ways to connect on stage. It was a bonding time because of it and I am grateful to the team and cast for our unique experience. The theater provided us a “Messehalle” big enoughto fit us AND the prescribed cubic metres of air per person in.

Now in 2023 we have completely revised version where nothing is keeping us apart anymore! We all breath the same air, and are finally allowed to touch and embrace it all.

The choreography by Eleonora Talamini, (…) a masterpiece in complete safety, (…) A challenge accepted and solved in a perfect way, without damaging the piece, on the contrary: distance has become a symbol of actual distance, even emotional, which subsists, and often is not even perceived.*
— Elisa Cutullè, ViviSaar
